In an era where club teams dominate middle school school wrestling, eleven brave souls toughed it out for their local middle school wrestling team. Mitchell Pallotta, Cade Walker, Nathan Orolin, Isayah Voros, Jace Richards, Alexander Henry, Garrett Dennis, Caden Kramer, Adam Abbott, Keith Hall, and Gabriel Redovian, stayed strong through a grueling wrestling season. These athletes are not only trying to make a name for themselves in the wrestling community, but they are trying to make the Green wrestling program better. These boys are doing just that, by enduring the season and then battling through the post season, ultimately ending with three of them qualifying for the state tournament.
The 2017 MS State Qualifiers:
Mitchell Pallotta, an eighth grader, qualified for state at 74 pounds. This was his first year wrestling for the middle school team. During the year, he wrestled 80 pounds often at a weight disadvantage. Mitchell qualified at the Brecksville District. He pinned his way into placing in the top 6 and punching his ticket to the state tournament.
Adam Abbott, an eighth grader qualified for state at 164 pounds. This was his first year wrestling for the middle school team as well. He had the best winning percentage on the team. Adam qualified at the Norwalk District. He wrestled some quality opposition and positioned himself well to try to be on the podium at the state tournament.
Keith Hall, another eighth grader qualified for state at 176 pounds. This was Keith’s second year on the middle school team. Keith only won a single match during seventh grade. He improved by nineteen wins this year, winning 20 matches and setting himself up to be a valuable asset in the future for the Green High School Wrestling Team.
The Junior High State Tournament will be at the Covelli Centre in Youngstown on March 18th and 19th. Good Luck Bulldogs!
